• Vadivelu was cast in En Swasa Kaatre (1999) only after the director saw him in a small stage play. Raghuvaran, who was already signed, insisted Vadivelu be given a proper role — not just a one-scene comic relief.
• In Dosth (2001), Raghuvaran played the villain with a cold, measured delivery. Vadivelu’s frantic, high-energy comedy in the same scenes forced Raghuvaran to pause longer between his lines — creating a tension that made both performances sharper.
• On the sets of Iraniyan (1999), Raghuvaran would sit with Vadivelu between shots and teach him dialogue modulation. Vadivelu later said Raghuvaran treated him like a younger brother, not a junior artist.
• The success of their comic-villain pairing in Marudhamalai (2007) directly inspired director A. Venkatesh to cast a similar duo — Vivek and Ashish Vidyarthi — in his next film. That film flopped, but the template stuck for a few years.
• Vadivelu once told a magazine: 'Raghuvaran anna never laughed at my jokes on set. He would just nod and say, 'Good, now do it again slower.' That taught me timing.'
• They almost never worked together after 2001. Marudhamalai (2007) happened only because Raghuvaran called Vadivelu personally and said, 'I need you in this film. No one else can do what you do opposite me.'
