Aanazhagan(1995)
Aanazhagan is a 1995 Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed by Thiagarajan. It stars Prashanth, Suneha, Vadivelu, Charle, and Chinni Jayanth. The story follows four bachelors who pretend to be a family to rent a house, with Prashanth disguising himself as a woman named Lakshmi. The film is a remake of the Telugu film Chitram Bhalare Vichitram (1992), which is based on Sailesh Dey's Bengali play Joymakali Boarding. Prashanth's drag performance was noted for its difficulty, requiring waxing, threading, and a Bharatanatyam sequence. The music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja. The film had an average box office performance but remains a memorable comedy.

Trivia
- The film's plot is loosely inspired by the 1992 Telugu comedy 'Aapadbandhavudu', which also featured a man disguising as a woman.
- Director Thyagarajan, known for action films, made a rare foray into full-length comedy with this movie.
- Actor Ajay Rathnam, who plays the lead, performed the female impersonation scenes without a body double.
- The comedy track heavily relies on the 1990s Chennai housing crisis, a relatable issue for audiences then.
- A portion of the film was shot in the then-newly developed Anna Nagar area, capturing its early residential landscape.
- The soundtrack by Deva included a hit romantic duet, 'Kannukkul Nooru', that contrasted with the film's comedic tone.
- Despite the central cross-dressing theme, the film avoided the drag comedy tropes common in 1980s Tamil cinema.
