Trivia

  • The film was shot in and around Chennai, but used sets and locations to realistically depict a rural village setting.
  • It was one of the few Tamil films of the early 90s to directly tackle caste-based violence and discrimination as its central theme.
  • The movie's climax involving a massive flood required extensive use of water tanks and special effects for that era.
  • Actress Ranjitha, who played Priyanka, was primarily known for glamorous roles, making this a rare serious dramatic performance for her.
  • Director G. Neelakanta Reddy was better known for directing Telugu films, and this remains one of his few notable Tamil ventures.
  • The film's soundtrack by composer S. A. Rajkumar did not achieve major commercial success, unlike many other Tamil scores of the time.
  • The story's resolution, questioning whether help would be given to the oppressors, was noted for its moral complexity in a mainstream film.
