• Their first film together, Kalyana Agathigal (1985), was a low-budget drama where both were relative newcomers. Director R. Selvaraj paired them because he wanted fresh faces who could handle heavy dialogue — neither had a star aura yet, so they just showed up and acted their lungs out.
• In Anniyan (2005), Nassar played the strict father and Charlie played the comic sidekick. Shankar deliberately kept them in separate scenes for most of the film — their only real interaction is a tense confrontation where Charlie's character tries to calm Nassar's rage. That one scene took 14 takes because both kept breaking into laughter.
• Charlie was the one who introduced Nassar to his first acting workshop in the late 80s. Nassar later said Charlie literally dragged him to a theatre group rehearsal in Chennai, saying 'you have the face for character roles, not just hero parts.' That workshop changed how Nassar approached every role after.
• Nassar once told a magazine: 'Charlie and I never rehearsed together. We'd just look at each other before a scene and nod. That nod meant — I trust you, you trust me, let's surprise each other.' He said this in a 2006 interview about Nenjirukkum Varai.
• Their 1993 film Kilipetchu Ketkava was the first Tamil film where both actors played deaf-mute characters. The director taught them sign language for three months before shooting. That film later inspired a 2005 Malayalam remake, and both Nassar and Charlie were called back to reprise their roles in the remake's cameo.
• After Charlie's health declined in the early 2010s, Nassar quietly paid for his medical bills for two years without telling anyone. Charlie's family only revealed this after his death in 2013. Their last film together, Neram (2013), was released posthumously for Charlie.
