Marupadiyum is a 1993 Indian Tamil-language drama film written, filmed, and directed by Balu Mahendra. The cast includes Revathi, Nizhalgal Ravi, Arvind Swamy, and Rohini. The story follows Thulasi, a wife whose husband leaves her for another woman, and her journey toward independence. The film is a remake of the 1982 Hindi film Arth. Revathi won the Filmfare Award for Best Tamil Actress for her performance. The soundtrack was composed by Ilaiyaraaja and features the popular song "Aasai Athigam." The film was released on 14 January 1993.

Storyline
Thulasi is a devoted wife whose husband Muralikrishna leaves her for another woman. She must rebuild her life from scratch with only ₹2,000 to her name. With the help of a kind singer, she finds a job and learns to stand on her own. But her past keeps pulling her back, and she must choose between a new love and her hard-won independence.
