Trivia
- This was the only Tamil film directed by Liaquat Ali Khan, who was better known as a producer.
- The film's title 'Enga Muthalali' translates to 'Our Boss', highlighting the village's view of Vijayakanth's character.
- Actress Kasthuri, who played the female lead, was a major star in the 1990s but this film is not among her most remembered works.
- Composer Ilaiyaraaja's soundtrack for the film included a hit song 'Kadhal Enbadhu', sung by S. P. Balasubrahmanyam and K. S. Chithra.
- The film's plot of a village election clash mirrored real-life political themes common in Vijayakanth's movies of that era.
- Actor Vivek, who played 'Bambaram' Pandu, was early in his career and this role was before he became famous as a comedy star.
- The movie released during a period when Vijayakanth was often cast as a righteous village hero fighting corruption.
