Varsham(2004)
Varsham is a 2004 Indian Telugu-language romantic action film directed by Sobhan and produced by M.S. Raju. It stars Prabhas, Gopichand, and Trisha Krishnan in lead roles, with Prakash Raj, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, and Chandra Mohan in supporting roles. The story follows Venkat, an unemployed young man who falls in love with Sailaja, a middle-class girl, but must fight a ruthless politician named Bhadranna to save her. The film is loosely inspired by the 1988 Hindi film Tezaab and draws parallels to the Ramayana. Varsham was a box office blockbuster, running for 175 days in theaters, and marked a breakthrough role for Prabhas while establishing Trisha in Telugu cinema. The music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, became hugely popular, and the film won multiple awards including Filmfare Awards for Best Film and Best Actress. It was re-released in 4K resolution in November 2022.
