• Ajay and Sunil Varma first shared screen space in Bhadra (2005) because the director wanted a fresh pair for the lead roles. Neither was a big star then, so they both auditioned together — and got the parts on the same day.
• In Ontari (2008), Sunil Varma played the comic sidekick while Ajay carried the action. But here’s the trick: Sunil would improvise punchlines on set, and Ajay would react in real time — no retakes. That raw back-and-forth made their scenes feel like actual friends bantering.
