Satyam is a 2003 Indian Telugu-language romantic drama film directed by debutant Surya Kiran and produced by Nagarjuna under Annapurna Studios. The film stars Sumanth as the titular character alongside Genelia D'Souza in her Telugu cinema debut. The story follows a gifted ghostwriter who hides his songwriting talent from his father and his love interest. The film features a soundtrack composed by Chakri, who won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer – Telugu for the song "O Maguva". Satyam was released on 19 December 2003 to positive reviews and emerged as a commercial success, becoming one of the biggest hits in Sumanth's career. The film was later remade in Bengali as Shakti in 2004.

Storyline

Satyam is a talented songwriter who works as a ghostwriter for a selfish lyricist. He falls in love with Ankita but hides his true identity from her and his disapproving father. To win their respect and her love, he must find the courage to claim his own work and reveal the truth.
