Trivia
- The film's title 'Pekata Paparao' is a playful Telugu phrase that roughly translates to 'a man who talks nonsense or fibs'.
- It was one of the few films where comedian Brahmanandam played a relatively serious role as the protagonist's friend, deviating from his usual purely comic characters.
- The movie was shot extensively in and around the clubs and gambling dens of Vijayawada to add authenticity to the protagonist's world.
- Director Y. Nageswara Rao was primarily known for family dramas, making this comedy about gambling and irresponsibility an unusual choice in his filmography.
- The film's soundtrack, composed by Raj-Koti, was not a major commercial success, unlike many other Telugu soundtracks of the early 1990s.
- Actress Kovai Sarala, who played a supporting role, reportedly improvised many of her comedic lines during filming.
- The plot device of a protagonist marrying a police officer without knowing her profession was considered a novel twist in Telugu cinema at the time.
