Swathi Kiranam (transl. Dawn of Light) is a 1992 Telugu-language musical drama film directed by K. Viswanath. The film stars Mammootty in his Telugu debut, Master Manjunath, and Radhika Sarathkumar. It follows an egotistical Carnatic music teacher who becomes jealous of his young prodigy student. The story explores their destructive relationship set in a rural temple town. The film was featured in the Indian panorama section of the 24th International Film Festival of India. It also screened at the Asia Pacific Film Festival and Moscow Film Festival. The music, credited to K. V. Mahadevan but composed by Pughazhendi, won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer. Storyline

An arrogant classical singer named Anantha Rama Sharma meets a young boy named Gangadhar who has extraordinary musical talent. Instead of guiding the boy, Sharma becomes consumed by jealousy. He steals the boy's compositions and humiliates him publicly. The boy's desperate attempt to win Sharma's love leads to a tragic ending.
