Defining Moments

1999

Hosting Naiyandi Darbar on Vijay TV, a late-night celebrity talk show modelled on American formats, where his quick wit, improvisational banter, and film industry insider humor made him a household name in Tamil Nadu

This long-running show (1999–2002) is arguably his most widely recognised work; it cemented his identity as a comedian and personality beyond film roles, and clips are still referenced in Tamil media discussions

2002

Role as Constable Saravanan, a sincere and earnest police constable who aids the vigilante protagonist in navigating institutional corruption, bringing warmth and reliability to the supporting cast

One of his early film roles that demonstrated his ability to handle dramatic material; the film itself became a landmark Tamil vigilante drama directed by A. R. Murugadoss, and Sethu's grounded portrayal stood out amid a high-stakes narrative

2002

Ensemble comedy performance as Vedham in the multi-strand comedy of errors, delivering rapid-fire comedic dialogue in scenes built around mistaken identity and domestic chaos alongside Kamal Haasan

The film is a beloved Tamil comedy classic and Sethu's contribution to the ensemble helped establish him as a reliable comedic supporting actor in big-budget productions

2003

Performance as Uthaman, a smooth-talking conman whose comic deceptions and over-the-top persuasion scenes provided levity in an otherwise philosophical road film alongside Kamal Haasan and R. Madhavan

Anbe Sivam is regarded as one of the finest Tamil films ever made; Yugi Sethu's comedic timing as the scheming Uthaman is frequently recalled as a highlight of the ensemble, and the film's cult status keeps these scenes in circulation
