• Dalip Tahil and Shafi Inamdar first shared screen space in 'Aaj Ki Awaz' (1984) because the director, R. Choudhury, needed two actors who could play morally opposite brothers convincingly — Tahil the righteous cop, Inamdar the corrupt lawyer. They were cast together specifically to heighten that contrast.
• In 'Nazrana' (1987), Tahil played the possessive husband and Inamdar the friend who betrays him. The tension worked because Tahil would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery, forcing Inamdar to fill the silence with nervous energy — a trick they used in all three films.
• Despite playing bitter rivals on screen, Tahil and Inamdar were close friends off-screen. They would often drive together to outdoor shoots in the same car, and Inamdar would make Tahil laugh so hard before takes that the director had to call 'cut' and reset.
• Shafi Inamdar once said in an interview: 'Dalip and I never rehearsed our scenes together. We'd just look at each other and know what the other was going to do. That's why our fights felt real — because we trusted each other completely.'
• Their third and final film together, 'Prem Qaidi' (1991), was a box-office disaster that effectively ended both their runs as leading men in Hindi cinema. After that, neither was offered a major lead role again — the film's failure directly derailed both their careers.
