• Director R. Sundarrajan paired them for the first time in 'Ennai Vittu Pogaathe' (1988) because he wanted a fresh, non-star couple. Ramarajan was already a hit machine, but Chinni Jayanth was a newcomer. Sundarrajan bet that Ramarajan's mass appeal would carry her, and it worked — the film ran for over 100 days.
• In 'Melangottu Thalikattu' (1988), Ramarajan played a loud, aggressive village hero. Chinni Jayanth matched his energy with a fiery, no-nonsense performance. The trick?
