• Director Gangai Amaran cast Ramarajan and Shanti Priya together for the first time in 'Enga Ooru Pattukaran' (1987) because he wanted a fresh, rural pair. Ramarajan was already a rising star, but Shanti Priya was relatively new. Amaran bet on their raw energy over polished city actors.
