• Vimal and Soori first met on the sets of Maattuthavani (2012) — but they weren't supposed to be a pair. Director Venkatesh cast Soori as the comic sidekick only after Vimal insisted he needed a friend who could match his energy. Soori was a last-minute replacement.
• In Kedi Billa Killadi Ranga (2013), Vimal played the straight man while Soori did all the physical comedy. But here's the trick: Soori would deliberately flub his lines to make Vimal break character on camera. The director kept those takes because Vimal's genuine laughter sold the friendship.
• During the shoot of Pulivaal (2014), Soori's father passed away. Vimal quietly paid for all the funeral arrangements and didn't tell anyone until years later. Soori revealed this in a 2022 interview, saying 'he became my brother that day, not just a co-star.'

• Soori once said about Vimal: 'He doesn't act with me. He reacts to me. That's why our scenes feel like two real friends talking.' He said this during a 2015 promotional interview for Pulivaal.
• In Badava (2025), their sixth film together, Vimal and Soori swapped roles for the first time: Soori played the serious lead while Vimal took the comic relief. They rehearsed for three weeks to unlearn their usual rhythms. Soori later said it felt like 'dancing with the wrong foot.'
