• Shruti Haasan and Brahmanandam first shared screen space in Balupu (2013), but their real spark came in Race Gurram (2014) — Brahmanandam’s character was written specifically to bounce off Shruti’s deadpan reactions, and the director admitted he cast her partly because she could keep a straight face while Brahmanandam went wild.
• In Srimanthudu (2015), Brahmanandam’s comedy track with Shruti was almost entirely improvised. He would throw random lines at her during takes, and she had to react in real time — no retakes allowed. The scene where she slaps him with a chappal was her genuine frustration after he kept cracking her up off-camera.
• On the sets of Yevadu (2014), Shruti and Brahmanandam developed a running joke: every morning, he’d greet her with a new fake Telugu word, and she’d have to guess its meaning. By the end of the shoot, she could hold a basic conversation in Telugu — something she credits entirely to him.
• Shruti once said in an interview: 'Brahmanandam garu doesn't just make you laugh — he makes you forget you're acting. In Race Gurram, I wasn't reacting as my character. I was reacting as myself, trying not to laugh.'
• Their pairing in Srimanthudu (2015) was so popular that the film's comedy track was later reused as a template for the Telugu dub of a Tamil film — directly inspiring a wave of 'heroine vs comedian' subplots in mid-2010s Telugu cinema.
• In Sabash Naidu (2017), Brahmanandam played a character who was terrified of Shruti’s on-screen persona. The joke was that he’d freeze mid-sentence whenever she looked at him — and Shruti deliberately held her gaze longer than the script required, forcing him to break character and ad-lib a stammer. That stammer became the scene’s biggest laugh.
