• Selva Bharathy was an assistant to director K. S. Ravikumar when he first met Vivek. He wrote the role of 'Vivaramana Aalu' specifically for Vivek after watching him perform a stage show — but the producer wanted a bigger star. Selva fought for three months to keep Vivek in the lead.
• On the sets of 'Anbe Vaa' (2005), Selva Bharathy let Vivek improvise most of his comedy dialogues. Vivek would write new lines on the spot, and Selva would reshoot the scene if the crew laughed harder than the first take. That film became Vivek's most freewheeling performance of the 2000s.
• After 'Pasupathi c/o Rasakkapalayam' (2007) flopped, Selva Bharathy stopped directing for nearly a decade. Vivek quietly recommended him for writing gigs in other directors' films, but Selva never took them. They didn't speak for years — not out of anger, but because Selva felt he'd let Vivek down.
• The success of 'Vivaramana Aalu' (2002) directly led to Vivek getting cast in 'Saamy' (2003) — director Hari saw Vivek's comic timing in that film and wrote the role of 'Aarumugam' specifically for him. Without Selva Bharathy's first film, that iconic character might never have existed.
