• Pandu and Monal first worked together in Badri (2001) because the director, P. A. Arun Prasad, needed a fresh pair for the lead roles. Monal was a newcomer from Mumbai with no Tamil film experience, and Pandu was a TV actor making his big-screen debut. The director literally put two unknowns together and hoped for the best.
• In Lovely (2001), Pandu played a shy, stammering lover while Monal played a bold, talkative girl. The entire comedy came from Monal constantly interrupting Pandu's lines — she set the pace, and he had to react. That push-and-pull rhythm became their signature in all three films.
• During the shoot of Charlie Chaplin (2002), Pandu and Monal reportedly didn't get along off-screen. Monal later said in an interview that Pandu was too serious and kept to himself, while Pandu felt Monal was too loud. They never worked together again after 2002.
• Monal once told a Tamil magazine: 'Pandu was like a robot on set. He would do his lines exactly as written, no improvisation. I had to do all the acting for both of us.' She said this in 2002, right after Charlie Chaplin released.
• Their film Lovely (2001) was so poorly received that it became a cult joke among Tamil audiences. The film's title is still used as a sarcastic punchline in some comedy circles when referring to a disastrous romantic comedy.
