• Livingston and Charlie first met on the set of 'En Uyir Thozhan' (1990) — but not as co-stars. Livingston was the film's director, and he cast Charlie in a supporting role. That film bombed, but Livingston liked Charlie's energy so much he wrote a bigger part for him in their next film that same year, 'Oru Veedu Iru Vasal'.
• In 'Oru Oorla Oru Rajakumari' (1995), Livingston played the comic sidekick while Charlie played the romantic lead. But here's the twist: Livingston actually wrote most of Charlie's comedy lines on set. Charlie would deliver them deadpan, and Livingston would react with exaggerated physical comedy. That back-and-forth rhythm — one straight, one wild — became their signature.
• After 'Nenjirukkum Varai' (2006), Livingston and Charlie didn't speak for nearly three years. The reason? A financial dispute over profit-sharing from that film. They patched things up only when a mutual friend forced them into a room together before 'Enga Raasi Nalla Raasi' (2009). Charlie later admitted they were both too stubborn to call first.
• Their 2019 film 'Gurkha' was a surprise hit, and it directly launched the career of director Sam Anton. Before that, Sam Anton was an assistant director on Livingston's sets. Livingston and Charlie both pushed the producer to give Sam Anton his first solo break — and the film's success led to Sam Anton directing two more hits in the next three years.
