• For Rendu (2006), director Sundar C. wanted a fresh face for the villain role. He spotted Crane Manohar at a stunt scene and cast him on the spot. Mayilsamy was already onboard as comedy relief. That set was where they first met — and started improvising together between takes.
• In Veeram (2014), Mayilsamy’s comic timing gave Manohar space to play the heavy without overdoing it. Manohar would deliberately pause his dialogue delivery to let Mayilsamy’s reaction land first. They never rehearsed those beats — they just read each other on set.
• On the sets of Ko 2 (2016), the two shared a room during outdoor shoots. Mayilsamy would wake up early and make coffee for both of them. Manohar later said that ritual kept him calm during the stressful action sequences.
• The success of their comic-villain pairing in Rendu (2006) directly led to Sundar C. casting them together again in Veeram (2014). That film’s box office run then convinced smaller directors to pair them in low-budget comedies — creating a mini trend of 'hero's friend vs. villain' banter in Tamil B-movies.
• Mayilsamy once said in an interview: 'Crane Manohar is the only villain who made me laugh while he was trying to kill me. We’d crack up mid-scene and the director would yell cut.'
• For Idiot (2022), the director originally wanted a different comedian. Manohar personally called Mayilsamy and said, 'If you’re not in this, I’m not doing it.' Mayilsamy signed the next day. That film ended up being their highest-rated collaboration.
