• Lakshmi was just 16 when she first acted opposite A.V.M.Rajan in Annaiyum Pithavum (1969). He was already a star. She later said she was so nervous on day one that he quietly told her, 'Just look at me and say your lines.' That broke the ice.
• In Mannippu (1969), Rajan deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Lakshmi's natural rhythm. She was new to emotional scenes; he paced himself to her beat. The result? That film's courtroom climax became a template for how Tamil cinema wrote husband-wife confrontations.
• On the sets of Paalkudam (1969), Rajan would bring Lakshmi filter coffee every morning before makeup. She was a teenager away from home; he made sure she ate proper meals.
