• For Maaveeran (1986), director Rajasekhar originally wanted a bigger star. Anand Babu personally convinced him to cast Vijayakumar, arguing that Vijayakumar's raw intensity would make the villain unforgettable. It worked — the film became a sleeper hit.
• In Mounam Kalaikirathu (1986), Anand Babu played the calm, brooding hero while Vijayakumar played the explosive antagonist. They deliberately rehearsed their confrontation scenes in silence — no dialogue, just eye contact — to build tension. The final cut used almost none of the written lines.
• Cheran Pandiyan (1991) directly inspired the 1996 cult classic 'Indian' (Bharateeyudu). Director S. Shankar has said in interviews that the raw, rural face-off between Anand Babu and Vijayakumar in that film made him want to cast them both in his own project — but by then, their collaboration had ended.
• During the shoot of Maaveeran, Anand Babu and Vijayakumar shared a small room in a lodge near the set. Every night, they would run through the next day's fight choreography using only their shadows on the wall — no actual contact, just to get the timing right. They never told the director.
• Vijayakumar once said in a 1992 interview: 'Anand Babu is the only co-star who made me forget I was acting. When we faced each other in Cheran Pandiyan, I wasn't acting — I was genuinely scared of him.'
• After Cheran Pandiyan (1991), the two never spoke again. No public fight — just a quiet drift. Vijayakumar later told a close friend that Anand Babu had stopped returning his calls. Neither has ever explained why.
