• Malliyam Rajagopal didn't just act with Gemini Ganesan — he directed him in all four films. Rajagopal was a writer-director who specifically built these roles around Gemini's 'kadhal Mannan' (romantic king) image, but added a comedic twist that Gemini rarely got elsewhere.
• In 'Enna Muthalali Soukkiyama' (1972), Rajagopal wrote a scene where Gemini's character has to argue with himself in a mirror. Gemini improvised the entire dialogue on set, and Rajagopal kept the camera rolling. That unscripted bit became the film's most talked-about moment.
