• Nagma was the bigger star when they first paired up in Ashwamedham (1992). Meena was still finding her footing. The director cast Nagma first, and she suggested Meena for the second lead — that’s how they ended up on set together.
• In Allari Alludu (1993), Meena played the loud, comic foil while Nagma handled the emotional beats. They never competed for screen space — Meena once said in an interview that Nagma would deliberately hold back her energy in scenes so Meena’s comedy could land first.
• During the shoot of Ashwamedham, both actresses shared a vanity van because the budget was tight. They became close enough that Nagma taught Meena how to handle pushy producers — a lesson Meena later said saved her career.
