• In 'Biwi Ho To Aisi' (1988), Rekha played the long-suffering wife while Kader Khan played the comic villain. Their scenes together are a masterclass in contrast — she underplays every reaction, he goes full theatrical. She said later that his loudness made her stillness work.
• Kader Khan was a dialogue writer before he became an actor. On the sets of 'Insaaf Ki Awaaz' (1986), Rekha would often ask him to rewrite her lines on the spot. He later joked that she was the only actress who treated him like a writer first and a co-star second.
• They were first paired in 'Insaaf Ki Awaaz' (1986) because the producer needed a bankable leading lady to offset Kader Khan's then-risky shift from writer to full-time actor. Rekha agreed on one condition — that Kader would personally punch up her courtroom monologue. He did, and she delivered it in one take.
• The success of their courtroom face-off in 'Insaaf Ki Awaaz' (1986) directly inspired the makers to cast them again in 'Insaaf Ki Devi' (1992) — essentially a gender-swapped sequel where Rekha played the judge. It was one of the earliest Hindi films to put a woman in the judge's chair opposite a male defendant.
