• P. Vasu cast Sukanya in 'Senthamizh Paattu' (1992) after seeing her in a Malayalam film. He later admitted he was nervous directing a newcomer, but she walked in and delivered her first line perfectly on the first take — he never doubted her after that.
• In 'Udan Pirappu' (1993), Vasu deliberately wrote scenes where Sukanya’s character had to talk over him — he said her natural rhythm forced him to listen instead of just delivering lines. That film is the only one of their four where critics praised both their performances equally.
• During the shoot of 'Walter Vetrivel' (1993), Sukanya would bring homemade snacks for the entire crew every Friday. Vasu later said she was the only co-star who ever did that for him, and it made the tense action schedule bearable.
• The success of 'Udan Pirappu' (1993) directly led to Vasu being offered his first solo directorial project without a co-director. He has said in interviews that Sukanya’s performance in that film convinced producers he could handle a lead actress on his own.
• Sukanya once told a magazine: 'Vasu never treated me like a heroine. He treated me like a co-actor. That’s why I did four films with him in three years — I knew he wouldn’t waste my time.'
• In 'Mr. Madras' (1995), Vasu insisted on a scene where Sukanya had to slap him for real. She refused to fake it. He told her to go ahead. The slap left a red mark that stayed for the rest of the day’s shoot — and he never asked her to do a retake.
