• For 'Sigaram' (1991), SPB was already a massive singer but a green actor. Ramya Krishnan was the bigger star at that point. She reportedly pushed the director to cast SPB because she felt his voice would match the romantic lead's intensity — and she was right, even if the film tanked.
• In 'Deergha Sumangali Bhava' (1998), SPB's natural nervousness as an actor worked perfectly against Ramya's confident screen presence. She would deliberately slow down her dialogue delivery in emotional scenes so he could catch up — making their exchanges feel more tender and real.
• SPB and Ramya Krishnan stayed in touch long after their films ended. He would call her every year on her birthday to sing a few lines from their songs together — a ritual he kept up until his passing in 2020.
