• They first shared screen space in Suriyan (1992) because the director needed a fresh pair to play the hero's siblings. Neither was a lead yet — Goundamani was a busy comedian, Roja was just starting out. The director threw them together in a single scene, and their timing clicked so well that he expanded both their roles during the shoot itself.
• In Ayudha Poojai (1995), Goundamani deliberately slowed down his delivery to match Roja's nervous energy. He told the crew he wanted her to feel like she was leading the scene — even though he was the senior. That trick made their banter feel like real brother-sister bickering, not a comedian steamrolling a newcomer.
• During the shoot of Azhagarsamy (1999), Goundamani personally drove Roja to the hospital when she fell ill on set. He waited outside the ward for four hours, then drove her back to the location. She later said he treated her like his actual younger sister, not a co-star.
