• Om Shivpuri and Deven Verma first shared screen space in 'Kudrat' (1981) because the director, Chetan Anand, specifically wanted two actors who could play contrasting moral poles — Shivpuri's stern, authoritative presence against Verma's slippery, comic charm. Anand told them on set: 'You two are the yin and yang of this film.'
• In 'Daulat' (1982), Deven Verma would deliberately flub his lines during rehearsals to make Om Shivpuri laugh — and Shivpuri, known for his deadpan discipline, would break character and crack up. The director kept those takes because the laughter felt real on screen.
• After 'Dekha Pyar Tumhara' (1985) flopped hard, Om Shivpuri called Deven Verma and said, 'We should never do a film together again unless the script is bulletproof.' They never worked together again.
