• Sarath Kumar was already a star when he picked Pandu to play his sidekick in Idhaya Vaasal (1991). Pandu was a struggling comedian at the time. That one film changed his career.
• In Nattamai (1994), Sarath played a double role — one serious, one comic. Pandu was the only actor Sarath trusted to improvise dialogue with the comic version. They wrote half their scenes on set together.
• Pandu once said in an interview that Sarath never let him feel like a supporting actor. On the sets of Aranmanai Kaavalan (1994), Sarath made sure Pandu got equal close-ups in every comedy scene.
• Their pairing in Paattali (1999) was so popular that the director, R. K. Selvamani, wrote a separate comedy track just for them. That track was later copied by several B-movies in the early 2000s.
