• Sarath Kumar and Charlie first met on the set of Chithirai Pookal (1991) because the director, R. Sundarrajan, specifically wanted a tall, imposing villain to match Sarath's frame. Charlie was cast as the comic sidekick, and their first scene together was improvised — Charlie made Sarath laugh so hard they had to reshoot.
• In Dasarathan (1993), Charlie's character was written as a mute sidekick. Sarath insisted Charlie speak a few lines in the climax. That single dialogue — "Naan sonna maariye irukku" — became a minor cult line in Tamil B-movie circles.
• During the shoot of Vedan (1993), Sarath Kumar's car broke down in Theni. Charlie walked 12 km to get a mechanic. Sarath later said in a 2005 interview that Charlie never told anyone about it — he only found out years later from a crew member.
• Thenkasi Pattanam (2002) was the first Tamil film where Charlie played a negative role with comic undertones. That performance directly inspired director A. Venkatesh to cast Charlie as the villain in his next film, leading to a whole second career for Charlie as a character actor.
• "Charlie is the only actor who can make me forget my lines. I'd be in the middle of a serious scene, he'd do something with his eyes, and I'd just lose it. We had to shoot our scenes separately in Ayya." — Sarath Kumar, in a 2005 interview with Ananda Vikatan.
• After Ayya (2005), Sarath and Charlie never spoke again. No fight, no fallout — Charlie simply stopped returning calls. Sarath told a journalist in 2010 that he still doesn't know why. Charlie never explained it publicly before his death.
