• Director R. Sarathkumar (no relation) cast both of them in Arasu (2003) specifically because he wanted a pair of actors who could switch between comedy and action without missing a beat. He told a magazine that he wrote the roles with their real-life friendship in mind.
• In Gambeeram (2004), Suresh played the comic sidekick while Sarath Kumar handled the heavy action. But on set, they swapped roles between takes — Sarath would crack jokes to loosen Suresh up before a serious scene, and Suresh would run through fight choreography with Sarath to keep his timing sharp.
• During the shoot of Nam Naadu (2007), Sarath Kumar and Suresh shared a vanity van for the entire schedule — not because they had to, but because they preferred it. They'd play carrom between setups and argue over who got the last piece of biryani from the caterer.
