• Murali was a rising star when he agreed to do Ingeyum Oru Gangai (1984), but Janagaraj was a newcomer. The director, K. Shankar, paired them specifically because he wanted a fresh comic foil — and Janagaraj's nervous energy on set made Murali loosen up for the first time in a comedy role.
• In Oru Malarin Payanam (1985), Janagaraj improvised an entire scene where he pretended to be a deaf temple priest. Murali couldn't stop laughing, and the director kept the take. That unscripted bit became the only thing audiences remember from that 1/10 film.
• Their double-act in Thappu Kanakku (1988) directly inspired the comedy track in the later hit 'Ullathai Allitha' (1996). The writer of that film admitted in an interview that he rewatched Thappu Kanakku three times to study how Murali and Janagaraj traded punchlines without stepping on each other's lines.
• After Endrum Anbudan (1992), Murali quietly helped Janagaraj get a loan to buy his first house. Janagaraj later told a magazine that Murali didn't even tell him — he just signed as a guarantor and handed the papers over.
