• Devika was a rising star when she was paired with M. R. Radha in 'Bale Pandiya' (1962). Radha, already a veteran villain, was initially hesitant to act opposite a much younger heroine — but Devika insisted she could hold her own, and the director bet on her confidence.
• In 'Anandha Jodhi' (1963), Radha deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Devika's natural rhythm. She later said he taught her how to pause for effect — a trick she used in every film after.
• During the shoot of 'Shanthi' (1965), Devika and Radha would rehearse their scenes in the car on the way to the set. Radha refused to let her read the script alone — he wanted to hear her line readings so he could adjust his performance on the spot.
