• Director S. A. Chandrasekhar paired them for the first time in 'Simma Soppanam' (1984) because he wanted two actresses who could play sisters with real tension — Saritha was the fiery one, Vijaya the stoic one. He cast them without a screen test, trusting their stage backgrounds.
• In 'Iru Medhaigal' (1984), Saritha and Vijaya swapped dialogue delivery styles mid-scene — Saritha would start a line fast and sharp, then Vijaya would slow it down with a pause. The director let them improvise that rhythm. It became the film's signature.
• During the shoot of 'Kai Koduppal Karpagambal' (1988), Saritha and Vijaya shared a makeup room and would rehearse their scenes together at 5 AM — before anyone else arrived. Vijaya later said Saritha taught her how to cry on cue without glycerin.
• K. R. Vijaya once told a magazine: 'Saritha made me work harder. She never let me get comfortable in a scene. If I gave 70%, she gave 100%. I had to match her.'
• Their on-screen sisterhood in 'Iru Medhaigal' directly inspired director K. Bhagyaraj to write a similar double-heroine script for his next film — but he couldn't get both actresses free, so he cast two newcomers instead. That film flopped.
• The third film, 'Kai Koduppal Karpagambal' (1988), almost didn't happen because Saritha had signed a Malayalam film that clashed. Vijaya personally called the Malayalam producer and swapped her own dates to free Saritha. The film released on time.
