• They first shared screen space in 'Ellorum Innaattu Mannar' (1960) only because the original villain dropped out last minute. Nambiar stepped in as a favour to the producer, and Gemini Ganesan insisted on rewriting his own scenes to match Nambiar's intensity.
• In 'Veerakkanal' (1960), Nambiar played a ruthless landlord while Gemini played the hero. Nambiar deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scene — forcing Gemini to match his rhythm instead of his usual fast patter. That scene became the film's most talked-about moment.
• During the shoot of 'Ezhai Pangalan' (1963), Nambiar and Gemini shared a room at a lodge in Tenkasi. Every night, Gemini would rehearse his lines aloud, and Nambiar would critique his diction. Gemini later said Nambiar taught him how to 'breathe between words'.
• Gemini Ganesan once told a magazine: 'Nambiar made me work harder. He never let me get away with a lazy take. I hated him for it on set, but I loved him for it after the show.'
• Their third film 'Ezhai Pangalan' (1963) was the first Tamil film to feature a villain (Nambiar) who gets a full backstory song — a trend that later inspired directors like K. Balachander to write layered antagonists.
• In all three films, Nambiar's character never once smiles at Gemini's character. That was a conscious choice they agreed on before the first shoot — to keep the tension raw and unbroken.
