• They first came together for 'Annai Velankanni' (1971) because director K. Thangappan wanted a fresh pair that felt like real siblings. Sivakumar was already a rising star, but Padmini was the bigger name then — she agreed to the film only after Sivakumar personally narrated the script to her at her home.
• In 'Thirumagal' (1971), Padmini played a blind woman. Sivakumar deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery in every scene with her — he later said he did it so her character's blindness felt more real, because she had to react to his voice, not his face.
• Their 1975 film 'Ippadiyum Oru Penn' was the first Tamil movie to openly discuss a woman's right to remarry after divorce. The film directly inspired a wave of social-issue dramas in the late 70s, including 'Aval Oru Thodar Kathai' (1979).
• Sivakumar and Padmini never shot a single scene alone together. In all four films, every scene they shared had at least one other actor present — because Padmini insisted on it, uncomfortable with the gossip mills that had ruined other co-star pairs.
• Sivakumar once told a magazine: 'Padmini akka taught me how to cry on screen. In 'Kankatshi' (1971), I couldn't get the tears right. She held my hand off-camera and whispered about her own loss. That scene is still the most honest I've ever done.'
