Annai Velankanni is a 1971 Indian Tamil-language devotional drama film directed by K. Thangappan. The cast includes Gemini Ganesan, Jayalalithaa, Padmini, and K. R. Vijaya, with Kamal Haasan in an uncredited cameo as Jesus Christ. The narrative follows Nurse Mary, whose faith leads to miraculous events at the Velankanni shrine, interwoven with three historical apparition stories. The film was a commercial success, particularly in Kerala, and won the Chennai Film Fans' Association Award for Best Popular Film. It was released on 15 August 1971.

Storyline
Nurse Mary works at a hospital and deeply believes in the miracles of Mother Mary at Velankanni. When she leaves to meet her lover, the Virgin Mary takes her form and heals all the patients. Meanwhile, an atheist landlord refuses to take his sick family to the shrine, putting their lives at risk.
