• Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Khanna first shared screen space in 'Anth' (1993) because the director, Sanjay Khanna himself, cast Shetty after being impressed by his debut in 'Balwaan' — but Khanna had to fight the producers who wanted a bigger name for the villain role.
• In 'Shastra' (1996), Khanna played the cold-blooded antagonist while Shetty was the righteous cop — and the film's best scene is a 7-minute cat-and-mouse interrogation where Khanna's character keeps smiling, and Shetty's character slowly loses his cool. Shetty later said Khanna's stillness forced him to raise his own intensity.
• Despite making three films together, Sunil Shetty and Sanjay Khanna never became friends off-screen. Shetty once mentioned in an interview that Khanna was 'very reserved on set' and they barely spoke beyond the scenes — a professional distance that actually helped their on-screen tension.
• Sunil Shetty said about Sanjay Khanna in a 2001 interview: 'He doesn't act like a villain. He just looks at you, and you feel like hitting him. That's a gift.'
