Partnership facts

• Nassar and Manohar first shared screen space in Kallazhagar (1999) because the director needed two actors who could switch between comedy and menace without missing a beat. Neither was the first choice — the producer wanted bigger names, but the director insisted on this duo after seeing them in a stage play together.
• In Veeram (2014), Nassar played the calm, calculating father while Manohar played the hot-headed antagonist. The trick was that Manohar would deliberately raise his voice in rehearsals, forcing Nassar to lower his — creating that tense push-pull that made their scenes crackle.
• Their pairing in Aandavan Kattalai (2016) directly launched the career of director M. Manikandan. Manikandan had written the script with both of them in mind, and after the film became a sleeper hit, he went on to make the critically acclaimed Kadaisi Vivasayi (2021).
• On the sets of Kavan (2017), the two had a running bet: whoever flubbed a line first had to buy the entire crew chai. Manohar lost every single day — and paid for it. Nassar later admitted he deliberately slowed his delivery to make Manohar nervous.
