• For Pori (2007), director S. P. Rajkumar cast Sampath Raj as the villain first. Jagan was brought in later to play the comic sidekick — but on set, Jagan kept improvising lines that made Sampath break character. The director told them to keep doing it, and their back-and-forth became the film's most rewatchable scenes.
• In Vatthikuchi (2013), Sampath played a cold-blooded killer. Jagan played his nervous, chatty accomplice. The trick was: Sampath would deliver his lines in a flat monotone, then Jagan would immediately rattle off a fast, panicked response. The contrast made both performances sharper — Sampath's silence felt heavier because Jagan's chatter filled every gap.
• During the shoot of Thoongavanam (2015), Sampath and Jagan shared a room in a budget lodge near the forest location. Every night, they'd rehearse the next day's scene by swapping roles — Jagan would play Sampath's part and vice versa. They said it helped them catch each other's rhythm before the camera rolled.
• Jagan once said in a 2015 interview: 'Sampath is the only actor who can make me nervous. When he stares at me in a scene, I forget my lines — but that fear works for the character, so I never told him to stop.'
