• For Karthavyam (1991), director Suresh Krissna wanted a fresh villain. Sai Kumar recommended Babu Mohan, who had mostly done comedy until then. That film turned Babu Mohan into a serious antagonist.
• In Major Chandrakanth (1993), Sai Kumar played the hero's friend while Babu Mohan played the villain. Their scenes together had no dialogue overlap — Sai Kumar would set the emotional tone, and Babu Mohan would break it with sudden, cold silence. That contrast made the confrontations land harder.
• Sai Kumar and Babu Mohan are cousins in real life. They grew up in the same household in Visakhapatnam. Their on-screen rivalry in Karthavyam and Major Chandrakanth was a running joke at family dinners.
• Because of their pairing in Karthavyam, director Suresh Krissna cast them again in Major Chandrakanth. That film became a sleeper hit and directly led to Krissna getting the call to direct Baasha (1995) — the film that redefined Rajinikanth's career.
• Babu Mohan once said in an interview: 'Sai Kumar and I don't need to rehearse. We just look at each other and know what the other will do. That's what happens when you've shared a bathroom for 15 years.'
• In Gandharwa (2022), their first film together in 29 years, Sai Kumar played a strict father and Babu Mohan played a comic sidekick. They deliberately avoided eye contact in every scene — Sai Kumar explained later that they wanted to show how time had turned their old rivalry into awkward distance.
