• Bhagyaraj didn't just cast Urvashi in Mundhanai Mudichu (1983) — he spotted her at a dance show, walked up to her father, and convinced him on the spot to let her act. She was 14. That film put both of them on the map.
• On the sets of Oomai Janangal (1984), Bhagyaraj would literally write Urvashi's lines on a slate board just before the shot. She was a mute character in the film — so he'd act out the entire scene for her, and she'd mirror his expressions. No other director-actor pair worked like that.
• After Mundhanai Mudichu became a blockbuster, Bhagyaraj reportedly told Urvashi's parents: 'Treat her like a daughter, not a star.' He personally vetted every film offer she got for the next two years. She later called him her 'cinema father' in interviews.

• Urvashi once said: 'Bhagyaraj sir would scold me like a child on set, but the moment the camera rolled, he'd make me feel like the only actress in the world.' She said this in a 2016 interview with Ananda Vikatan.
• They didn't work together for 31 years after Oomai Janangal. Then in 2015, Bhagyaraj called Urvashi out of the blue for Mappilai Vinayagar. She said yes without reading the script. Their first scene together after three decades — she forgot her lines because she was too emotional.
