• For 'Rajanadai' (1989), director R. Sundarrajan paired them because he wanted a fresh, intense romantic duo. Radha Ravi had just come off a string of villain roles, and Kuyili was a rising star. The director bet that their contrasting energies — his brooding intensity, her soft vulnerability — would click. It did.
• In 'Kavithai Paadum Alaigal' (1990), Radha Ravi deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Kuyili's natural rhythm. He later told a magazine that she made him 'act with his eyes, not his voice' — a rare compliment from a performer known for his booming baritone.
• During the shoot of 'Naane Ennul Illai' (2010), Radha Ravi personally drove Kuyili to the hospital when she fell ill on set. The crew said he waited outside the ER for four hours. They hadn't worked together in 20 years, but he still called her 'Kuyili akka' (elder sister) out of respect.
• Kuyili once said in a 1991 interview: 'Radha Ravi sir doesn't act with you — he acts for you. He gives you the scene on a plate. I learned more from him in two films than from any acting class.'
