• They first shared screen space in Nooravathu Naal (1984) because director K. Shankar specifically wanted a comedic duo that could play off each other's contrasting energies — Janagaraj's frantic, high-pitched delivery against Thengai Srinivasan's deadpan, slow-burn reactions. Shankar saw them at a stage play together and locked them in immediately.
• In Kuva Kuva Vaathugal (1984), Janagaraj would deliberately flub his lines during rehearsals to make Thengai Srinivasan break character. Thengai never cracked — he'd just stare at Janagaraj with that stone-faced expression until the crew burst out laughing. That tension became their signature rhythm on screen.
• During the shoot of Anandha Kanneer (1986), Janagaraj's father passed away. Thengai Srinivasan quietly paid for the funeral arrangements and didn't tell anyone until years later. Janagaraj only found out when a production assistant slipped up in conversation.
• "Thengai anna never laughed at my jokes on set. He said if he laughed, the audience wouldn't. He was right." — Janagaraj, in a 2019 interview with Ananda Vikatan.
• Their double-act in Nooravathu Naal directly inspired director K. Bhagyaraj to cast them together again in his next project — but Bhagyaraj's film got shelved. The unused script later became the template for the comedy track in his 1987 hit Oomai Vizhigal, with a different pair.
