• Kamal Haasan was already a star when he signed Cinema Paithiyam (1975), but Jaishankar was the bigger name then. The director, Muktha Srinivasan, paired them specifically to give Kamal's film a box office boost — Jaishankar's mass appeal was supposed to pull in the crowds.
• In Sakka Podu Podu Raja (1978), Jaishankar played the straight-laced hero while Kamal played the comic sidekick. That was the trick: Jaishankar's deadpan seriousness let Kamal go wild with physical comedy. They never swapped roles — each knew exactly which lane the other owned.
• Jaishankar was a mentor figure to Kamal off-screen. During the shoot of Savaal (1981), Kamal was struggling with a fight choreography sequence.
