• Kamal Haasan was just 6 years old when he first acted opposite Savitri in Kalathur Kannamma (1960). She was already a superstar. He later said she treated him like her own son on set, feeding him between takes.
• In Paarthaal Pasi Theerum (1962), Savitri played a mother grieving her dead child. Kamal, then 8, played her son. The scene where she breaks down hugging him was shot in one take — she whispered real-life grief into his ear to get the reaction, and he cried on cue.
• By the time they reunited for Andharangam (1975), Kamal was a grown man and Savitri was struggling with alcoholism. He reportedly visited her home multiple times to convince her to take the role, and personally drove her to the sets every day.
• Kamal once said in an interview: 'Savitri amma taught me that acting is not about dialogue delivery — it's about what your eyes say when you're silent.' He was referring to their work together in Paadha Kannikkai (1962).
• Their last film together, Unnai Suttrum Ulagam (1977), was Savitri's final Tamil movie before her death in 1981. Kamal was 23. He later said that working with her in that film felt like closing a chapter — he was no longer the child actor she once fed on set.
