• Mahesh Babu personally requested M. S. Narayana for the role in Dookudu (2011) after seeing his comic timing in earlier films. Narayana later said Mahesh called him directly and said, 'Nee timing ki ee role set avutundi' (This role will suit your timing).
• In Dookudu, Narayana's character 'M. S. Narayana' (yes, he played himself) was written as a stammering comedian. Mahesh Babu deliberately slowed his own dialogue delivery in their scenes together so Narayana's punchlines would land harder — a rhythm they never rehearsed but found on the first take.
• The 'M. S. Narayana' character in Dookudu became so iconic that it directly inspired a wave of meta-comedy roles in Telugu cinema — where comedians started playing exaggerated versions of themselves. Films like 'Jai Simha' (2018) and 'Aravinda Sametha' (2018) copied the trope.
