• They first shared screen space in Soggadu (2005) because director Ravi Raja Pinisetty needed a towering villain to match Jr. NTR's energy. Subbaraju, at 6'3", was cast as the antagonist, and M. S. Narayana was brought in as comic relief in the same scenes. The director later said he paired them deliberately — Narayana's timing diffused Subbaraju's intensity, making their confrontations watchable.
• In Pourudu (2008), Narayana would deliberately flub his lines during rehearsals to make Subbaraju laugh and break character. Subbaraju told a fan meet that Narayana's improvisations forced him to stay loose — he couldn't rely on his usual stoic villain act because Narayana kept throwing unexpected punchlines mid-scene.
• Their comic-villain pairing in Sasirekha Parinayam (2009) was so well-received that director Ravi Chavali wrote a separate subplot just for them in Madatha Kaja (2011). That subplot — where Narayana's character keeps accidentally foiling Subbaraju's plans — became a template for several 2010s Telugu comedies featuring a bumbling sidekick and a frustrated heavy.
• On the sets of Madatha Kaja (2011), Narayana would bring homemade pickles from his village and share them with Subbaraju during lunch breaks. Subbaraju later recalled that Narayana never let him eat alone — even when Subbaraju tried to skip meals between shots, Narayana would drag him to the catering table.
